In an interview with QLD journalist Chris Barsby, Luke McCarthy declared unequivocally Muscle Hill (3.2 million. 20 wins 21 starts) as the greatest horse he has had anything to do with, whilst he nominated All Speed Hanover (2009 Breeders Crown Champion) as the most gifted 2 year old he has driven.

At this stage, the most exciting young pacer I’ve trained. He had versitility and a great gait. You could come out of the gate or sit parked. You didn’t have to look after him in the race, he made his own luck. When he qualified and ran his last quarter in 25 and change, we knew we had something special. After winning first over on a wet track at Lexington in 1.50.3, he went to Canada for the
breeders Crown and defeated the previously unbeaten Sportwriter.
There was no beating him that day. I believe he ended the year as the best 2yo around.

Stonegate Farm is a family owned equine business established in the 1980’s. We are situated within the Goulburn Valley in Victoria, also referred to as the heart of the equine breeding industry.
The farm consists of 720 acres of both irrigated and dry country. The Irrigation system has just undergone a new modernisation project, it has been transformed into the state of the art pipe and riser system where by you can start to irrigate at the touch of a button. Over 3 kilometers of pipe has been layed along with 59 Hi Risers outlets. The new infrasture program has allowed other parts of the property to be irrigated where as previously wasn't possible. Improved irrigation used in conjuction with our rotational cropping program, along with a natural biodynamic approach, ensures better pastures all year round. Providing your bloodstock investment every opportunity to develop to there full potential, therefore establishing a competitive advantage in todays market.
New improved fencing has been installed to ensure the safety and well being of all bloodstock on farm, with laneways and tree lines within fencing between each paddock.
Stonegate Farm is within easy access to Australia’s leading Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital. The property is 30mins from Shepparton or 25mins to Echuca and caters for all equine breeds, offering a complete service from conception to assignment.
